Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Uttarakhand is likely to be rescheduled. Initially planned for February 27th, he may now arrive on February 26th, coinciding with Maha Shivratri.

Dehradun: The possibility of a change in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Uttarakhand visit has been indicated. While the visit was initially scheduled for February 27th, he may now visit on February 26th, which is Maha Shivratri. This change might be due to weather forecasts predicting heavy rain and snowfall in Uttarkashi district on February 27th.

A New Dimension for Winter Tourism

The Uttarakhand government views this visit as a golden opportunity to promote winter tourism in the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had previously urged the Prime Minister to visit a prominent winter tourist destination, believing it would revitalize the sector. PM Modi's visit is expected to elevate Uttarakhand's winter tourism to new heights.

This visit has the potential to boost not only religious tourism but also adventure tourism, benefiting local businesses and hoteliers significantly. All eyes are now on when the Prime Minister's official schedule will be released and what benefits Uttarakhand will derive from his visit.

Proposed Itinerary

Prime Minister Modi may visit Mukhba, the winter abode of Gangotri Dham, and the tourist destination Harsil. During his visit, he is expected to offer prayers at Mata Ganga temple and address a public gathering in Harsil. Harsil, known for its natural beauty and serene environment, stands to gain new tourism opportunities from this visit.

Intensive Administrative Preparations

The Uttarakhand administration is actively preparing for the Prime Minister's potential visit. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi held a meeting with relevant officials to review arrangements. She instructed them to ensure smooth arrangements for the Prime Minister's welcome and security. Roads in Mukhba and Harsil are being repaired, and the garden department's premises in Harsil are being prepared for the Prime Minister's public address. Beautification work on Mukhba temple and village buildings is also progressing rapidly.

The tourism secretary has been instructed to organize a special exhibition of local products in Harsil during the Prime Minister's visit. This will promote Uttarakhand's traditional handicrafts, organic produce, and local businesses. Road construction to the helipad in Bagori is in its final stages to facilitate the visit. Amenities such as parking, water supply, electricity, and smart toilets have also been significantly improved.
