Maharashtra CM on Hospital Case: Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune, Maharashtra, is again embroiled in controversy. It is alleged that the hospital refused admission to a pregnant woman due to non-payment of a ₹10 lakh advance, leading to her death. The matter came to light after BJP MLC Amit Gorakhe released a video expressing outrage over the incident.
CM Fadnavis Takes Cognizance

This committee will be headed by the Joint Commissioner (Charity) of Pune, with the Deputy Secretary or Under Secretary of the Law and Justice Department serving as the Member Secretary. The committee will thoroughly investigate the matter.
CM's Office Strict on Adherence to 'Charity Patient Scheme'
The CM's office clarified that all charitable hospitals must adhere to the High Court-directed 'Charity Patient Scheme'. Steps will now be taken to ensure transparent allocation of beds reserved for the poor and vulnerable through the 'Charity Hospital Help Desk'.
Fadnavis Calls it 'Insensitivity of the Hospital'
The Chief Minister termed the incident as an "act of insensitivity by the hospital," expressing serious concern over the lack of medical ethics. He acknowledged that such incidents generate public anger and challenge the fundamental principles of healthcare.
Hospital Denies Allegations
Mangeshkar Hospital, in its internal investigation report, claims that the allegation of demanding ₹10 lakh is completely misleading. According to the hospital administration, the woman's condition was critical and required prolonged treatment in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Therefore, they advised transferring her to the government Sassoon Hospital.
