Rajni Patil has been appointed as the new in-charge of the Himachal Pradesh Congress, replacing Rajiv Shukla. She previously held this position from 2018 to 2020, giving her a b understanding of the state's political landscape.
Shimla: Rajni Patil has been appointed once again as the in-charge of the Himachal Pradesh Congress. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has entrusted Patil with this responsibility, replacing Rajiv Shukla. A notification to this effect was issued late Friday night. This decision comes a day after a meeting at the residence of national president Mallikarjun Kharge. Previously, Rajni Patil served as the in-charge of Himachal Pradesh from May 2018 to September 11, 2020, during which Kuldeep Rathore was the state president.
Born on December 5, 1958, Rajni Patil hails from Maharashtra. Her key challenges will be the formation of new committees and improving the Congress party's performance in upcoming elections.
Rajni Patil Takes Charge of Himachal Pradesh
Rajiv Shukla was appointed as the in-charge of the Himachal Pradesh Congress by the Congress high command in 2020. Under his leadership, the Congress party regained power in the 2022 Assembly elections. However, the party lost all four seats in the subsequent Lok Sabha elections. During this period, internal factionalism within the party also came to the fore, weakening the Congress's position. Considering this, Rajni Patil has been given the responsibility of the Himachal Congress once again.
Why Rajni Patil?
Rajni Patil's prior experience as in-charge of the Himachal Congress makes her well-versed in the state's political dynamics. Sources suggest that the party high command has once again entrusted her with this responsibility due to her experience. With Panchayati Raj elections at the end of this year and municipal corporation elections next year, the new in-charge faces the immediate challenges of forming a new executive committee and improving the party's electoral performance.
During her previous tenure as in-charge, the Congress performed remarkably well in Panchayati Raj and municipal corporation elections. The party hopes that under her leadership, the Congress will once again make a b comeback.
