ED's questioning of Robert Vadra continues for a second day. Priyanka Gandhi accompanied him in connection with the Haryana land deal case. Vadra claimed victory for truth on social media.
New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's husband and businessman Robert Vadra for a second consecutive day on Wednesday. This questioning is related to the Shikohpur Land Deal in Haryana. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accompanied him to the ED office during the questioning.
Vadra Speaks on Social Media: "Truth Will Prevail"
Before arriving at the ED office, Robert Vadra stated in a Facebook post, "I had planned several social service initiatives for my birthday week, but had to postpone them. As long as I live, I will continue to feed the elderly and gift children – the government cannot stop me from doing good work or speaking for minorities."
He further wrote, “When I speak about entering politics, I am targeted. But I will not succumb to pressure. I am confident that in the end, truth will prevail.”
Six Hours of Questioning on Tuesday
On Tuesday, the ED questioned Vadra for about six hours and recorded his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Vadra termed it a case of political vendetta. He said, "I have cooperated in investigations before, but I am being harassed simply because I speak for the people. Just as Rahul Gandhi's voice is suppressed in Parliament, so is mine."
What is the Haryana Land Deal Case?
In 2008, when Bhupinder Singh Hooda was the Chief Minister of Haryana, Vadra's company, Sky Light Hospitality Pvt Ltd, was granted permission to build a commercial colony on 2.70 acres of land. It is alleged that instead of building the colony, this land was sold to DLF Universal Ltd for ₹58 crore in 2012.
