Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to Visit the UK and Austria, Discussing Investment, Digital Economy, and Climate Finance with Global Leaders.

New Delhi: India's Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, will undertake an official visit to the UK and Austria from April 8 to 13, 2025. The primary objective of this visit is to strengthen economic and investment ties with both countries.

India-UK Economic Dialogue in London

On April 9th, the 13th India-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD) will be held in London. This will be co-chaired by Finance Minister Sitharaman and the UK's Chancellor of the Exchequer. Discussions will cover investment, fintech, the digital economy, tax regulations, UPI connectivity, and climate finance.

India's Priorities:

- Increasing investment in GIFT City

- Collaboration in the insurance and pension sectors

- Exploring new avenues for sustainable climate funding

The Finance Minister will also address an investors' roundtable in London, comprising CEOs from major global pension funds, banks, and insurance companies. This event will be held in partnership with UK Trade Minister Jonathan Reynolds and the City of London.

High-Level Meetings in Austria

In Austria, Ms. Sitharaman will meet with the country's Finance Minister, Marcus Marterbauer, Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer (Assuming this is the intended individual, as Christian Stocker is not a current Austrian Federal Chancellor), and Economy Minister Martin Kocher. She will also co-chair a special CEO session with key Austrian CEOs. This session will showcase investment opportunities in India, both existing and prospective.

This trip is considered a significant opportunity for India to enhance global financial connections, attract foreign investment, and strengthen cooperation in the digital and green economies.
