Canada's New Prime Minister Condemns Trump's Trade Policies

Canada's new Prime Minister, Mark Carney, has accused the United States of weakening its economy and impacting Canadian businesses and livelihoods through unfair tariffs.

Mark Carney: Mark Carney has been elected as Canada's new Prime Minister. The Liberal Party leader secured 85.9% of the vote. He assumes office amidst escalating trade tensions between the United States and Canada. US President Donald Trump's announcement of a 25% tariff on Canadian goods has further deteriorated relations between the two countries. However, Trump has extended the tariff deadline to April 4th.

Carney's Sharp Criticism of Trump

In his first address after being elected Prime Minister, Mark Carney bly criticized US President Donald Trump's policies. He stated, "Someone is trying to weaken our economy. Donald Trump has imposed unfair tariffs on our goods, our businesses, and our livelihoods. He is attacking Canadian families, workers, and businesses, and we will not let him succeed."

Carney further stated that Canada will impose retaliatory tariffs on the US until it receives respect. He explicitly stated that Canada will not compromise its economic interests.

‘America Became the Greatest Country in the World with Our Help’

Carney reacted bly to Trump's statements about making Canada the 51st state. He said, "We helped America become the greatest country in the world, and now our neighbor wants to take over our country. This will never happen."

He further stated, "Americans want to seize our resources, water, land, and country. If they succeed, they will destroy our way of life. America is a 'melting pot,' while Canada is a 'mosaic.' America is not Canada, and Canada will never be a part of America in any way."

Who is Mark Carney?

Mark Carney is a renowned economist and banker. He studied economics at Harvard University in the United States. In 2008, he was appointed Governor of the Bank of Canada. Subsequently, in 2012, Euromoney magazine named him 'Central Bank Governor of the Year'.

Mark Carney has also held several important international positions. He served as the Governor of the Bank of England. After entering politics, he joined the Liberal Party and now leads the country as Canada's Prime Minister.
