Last Updated: 09-01-2025

India Ranks 85th in the Most Powerful Passport List, Allowing Visa-Free Travel to 57 Countries. Pakistan Ranks 103rd.

Passport Rankings 2025: Henley & Partners released its 2025 global passport ranking, a list generating considerable interest and some debate. This ranking is based on the number of countries a passport holder can enter visa-free or with a visa on arrival.

Pakistan's Ranking Declines

Pakistan experienced a significant setback this year, ranking 103rd, tied with Yemen. Yemen's current domestic conflict is noteworthy. Pakistan's ranking is also worse than North Korea's, a further concerning point.

Singapore Holds Top Spot as Most Powerful Passport

Singapore's passport remains the most powerful globally. Singaporean passport holders can travel visa-free or with a visa on arrival to 195 countries. This marks the fifth consecutive year Singapore has topped the list, though in 2024, it shared the top spot with France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain.

Japan Takes Second Place

Japan, a perennial competitor with Singapore, claimed second place this year. Japanese passport holders can travel visa-free or with a visa on arrival to 193 countries. Last year, Japan surpassed Singapore for the top spot, but this year they are placed second.

India's Ranking Drops

India's ranking has decreased this year, falling to 85th from 80th last year. Indian passport holders have visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 57 countries. This includes, but is not limited to, Angola, Bhutan, Bolivia, Fiji, Haiti, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mauritius, Qatar, and Sri Lanka.

Neighboring Countries' Positions

Following Pakistan, Afghanistan holds the lowest rank globally at 106. Nepal is positioned 101st, Bangladesh 100th, Sri Lanka 96th, Myanmar 94th, and Bhutan 90th.

This ranking highlights shifts in global passport power dynamics, and illustrates India's relative decline in comparison to other countries.
