S Jaishankar In UK: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is currently on a six-day visit to the UK and Ireland. During his visit, he met with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and discussed several key issues. In London, he delivered a speech on 'India's Rise and Global Role' at the prestigious Chatham House think tank. The primary objective of his trip is to strengthen the India-UK strategic partnership.

Attempted Attack on Jaishankar, Insult to the Indian Flag

Even before Jaishankar arrived at Chatham House, a group of Khalistani supporters had gathered, chanting anti-India slogans. As the External Affairs Minister exited the event and got into his car, an individual approached his vehicle and began shouting slogans. During this incident, the individual attempted to tear the Indian flag, but security personnel immediately apprehended and removed him. Video footage of the entire incident has rapidly spread across social media.

Khalistani Supporters' Disturbance

A large group of Khalistani supporters also gathered in London during this incident. They chanted slogans while holding Khalistani flags. Previously, anti-India protests by Khalistani supporters have taken place outside the Indian High Commission in the UK. The Indian government has previously requested stricter action from the UK government regarding these matters.

Jaishankar's Strong Statement on Kashmir Issue

During a session at Chatham House in London, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar was questioned about the Kashmir issue. He unequivocally stated that the Kashmir issue would be fully resolved once Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK) is integrated with India. He described the revocation of Article 370 as a significant step and asserted that India has successfully restored development, economic reforms, and social justice in Kashmir.

Initiative to Strengthen India-UK Relations

The purpose of the External Affairs Minister's visit is to strengthen cooperation between India and the UK in trade, health, education, defense, and other areas of mutual interest. Following his London visit, Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Ireland from March 6-7. There, he will meet with Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney and other officials, and also interact with the Indian diaspora.
