Changes in U.S. Policies Were Expected: Jaishankar

During an event in London, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar discussed the evolving changes in U.S. foreign policy. He stated, "If you understand politics, you know that leaders try to fulfill their electoral promises. They don't always succeed completely, but there's a clarity in their decisions. What the U.S. is doing was entirely expected, so there should be no surprise."

Jaishankar further added that the Trump administration's decisions over the past few weeks should not have surprised anyone. He also mentioned that some are unnecessarily surprised, while these changes were already anticipated.

Statement on the Trump-Zelensky Dispute

Recently, a heated debate ensued between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Responding to this, Jaishankar said, "Europe needs to understand that their problems are not just theirs; they can become global problems. But often they think their problems are the world's problems, while global issues are not their concern."

He emphasized the importance of maintaining balance in global politics and transparency in international relations.

Jaishankar's Remarks on India-China Relations?

Regarding the India-China relationship, the External Affairs Minister stated that the relationship between the two countries is historic and unique. He said, "We are both the world's most populous nations, and our relationship has a long history with many ups and downs over time."

Jaishankar also clarified that India prioritizes its national interests and seeks to maintain a balanced relationship with China.

Jaishankar on a UK-Ireland Tour

It is noteworthy that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is on a six-day official visit to the UK and Ireland. During this visit, he will participate in several high-level meetings and discuss India's foreign policy, trade agreements, and global relations. This visit is considered a significant step in strengthening India's diplomatic efforts.
