A heatwave yellow alert has been issued until April 9th, advising people to avoid venturing out during the afternoon and to stay hydrated.
Rajasthan: Peak Heat
Rajasthan has witnessed record-breaking temperatures. The highest temperature was recorded in Barmer at 45.6°C on Monday. Temperatures in areas like Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Kota are above 44°C. However, there is a possibility of dust storms and light rain in some districts after April 10th.
Severe Heatwave in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh
Temperatures in districts like Faridabad and Hisar in Haryana have crossed 40°C. The administration has issued advisories regarding the heatwave. Areas like Kanpur, Prayagraj, Agra, and Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh are also experiencing temperatures between 40°C and 42°C. However, light to moderate rainfall is predicted for most districts of UP between today and April 13th, offering some relief.
Bihar and Jharkhand: Signs of Weather Relief

According to meteorologists, a western disturbance and an east-west trough line may affect the northern plains of India from April 9th. This could lead to rain with thunderstorms and b winds in several areas between April 10th and 13th. Experts predict that the intensity of the heatwave, including heatwave conditions, may decrease after April 15th in many parts of India, including Delhi-NCR.
