Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bangladesh had a very disappointing start. Five of their batsmen were back in the pavilion within 35 runs. Following this, a record sixth-wicket partnership of 154 runs between Jakir Ali and Towhid Hridoy helped Bangladesh reach a total of 228 runs. Jakir Ali scored 68 runs, while Towhid Hridoy anchored the innings with a crucial 100 runs.

For India, Mohammad Shami bowled brilliantly, claiming 5 wickets. This performance also saw him achieve a world record for the fastest 200 wickets in ODIs. Shami broke Mitchell Starc's previous record for the fastest 200 wickets, setting a new benchmark.

Gill's Magnificent Century

In response to Bangladesh's 228, India started brilliantly, scoring 69 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 10 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma played a quickfire innings of 41 runs but couldn't stay long at the crease. Virat Kohli followed, scoring 22 runs before getting out. The middle order, including Shreyas Iyer (15) and Axar Patel (8), couldn't make significant contributions and were dismissed quickly.

On the other hand, Shubman Gill anchored the innings, partnering with KL Rahul for an unbeaten 87-run stand. Both batsmen maintained their composure under pressure, guiding India to a 6-wicket victory. KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 41, including one four and two sixes. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 101 runs off 129 balls, steering the team to a comfortable victory.
