Jay Shah Completes Three Terms on Asian Cricket Council; Rajiv Shukla Takes Over

Cricket: Rajiv Shukla, the Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has been appointed to a significant role. He will now replace Jay Shah on the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Executive Board. The BCCI officially announced this on Friday, March 7th. Jay Shah's position became vacant following his ascension to the post of ICC Chairman. Rajiv Shukla will now represent the BCCI on the Executive Board.

Jay Shah's Resignation and New Leadership

Jay Shah's resignation from the ACC Executive Board created the vacancy. He served three terms as ACC Chairman and assumed the role of ICC Chairman on December 1st, 2024. Following this, the selection of a successor became necessary. The BCCI chose Rajiv Shukla for this role, further enhancing his importance within Indian cricket administration.

BCCI Secretary Offers Congratulations

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia congratulated Rajiv Shukla on his new responsibility. The BCCI statement said, "Following Jay Shah's appointment as ICC Chairman, a vacancy arose on the ACC Executive Board. Rajiv Shukla will now represent the BCCI in this role."

Additionally, BCCI Treasurer Ashish Shelar has also been appointed to a significant position. Shammi Silva, head of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, has been elected as the new ACC Chairman.

Rajiv Shukla's Recent Trip to Pakistan

Rajiv Shukla's contribution to the ACC is considered significant. Recently, he visited Lahore, Pakistan, as a BCCI representative, where he attended the second semi-final of the Champions Trophy 2025. During this visit, he watched the match between New Zealand and South Africa.

Statement on India-Pakistan Bilateral Series

During a press conference in Lahore, he was questioned about a bilateral series between India and Pakistan. Rajiv Shukla clarified, "The decision regarding a bilateral series between India and Pakistan rests with the government. The BCCI's policy is to follow government directives, and we believe the PCB will have a similar policy. If a series ever takes place between the two countries, it will be played in one country only, not at a neutral venue."
