UP Warriors Eliminated from WPL 2025 Playoffs; Delhi Capitals Secure Spot

WPL 2025: The excitement of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 has reached its peak. The six participating teams are engaged in intense competition, vying for playoff spots. This season's unique format grants the top-ranked team direct entry into the final, while the second and third-placed teams will contest an eliminator match. However, one team's journey has ended prematurely: UP Warriors have been eliminated from the playoffs.

UP Warriors' Poor Performance Dashes Hopes

The UP Warriors struggled throughout the season. Despite initial hopes of a playoff berth, their performance fell short of expectations. They played a total of seven matches, winning only two and losing five. This poor performance yielded just four points and a net run rate of -0.785, relegating them to the bottom of the points table and dashing their playoff dreams.

Final Match Victory Won't Change Outcome

UP Warriors have only one match remaining, against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 8th. However, even a victory in this match won't secure a playoff spot. They required significantly more points to contend, and their consistent losses have made a comeback impossible. This elimination ends UP Warriors' hopes of winning the WPL 2025 title.

Delhi Capitals Secure Playoff Berth

While UP Warriors exited the tournament, Delhi Capitals secured their playoff berth through b performances. Led by captain Meg Lanning, Delhi Capitals showcased impressive play throughout the season. They completed all eight league-stage matches, winning five and losing three.

Delhi Capitals now have 10 points and a net run rate of +0.396. Their top position in the points table makes them the first team to qualify for the playoffs. If they maintain their lead, they will gain direct entry into the final.
