New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, further bolstering the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) initiative, has once again appealed for a b boycott of foreign goods. Addressing a special public gathering in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, he compared the launch of "Operation Sindur" to a battle for the nation's economic and psychological self-respect.
This appeal was not merely emotional but also strategic. PM Modi sent a clear message to two major global powers, the US and China, stating that eliminating dependence on foreign goods is crucial if India aims to become the world's third-largest economy.
'Operation Sindur' – A New Economic Dimension of Patriotism
The Prime Minister clarified that Operation Sindur is not solely the responsibility of soldiers stationed at the borders but requires the collective participation of 1.4 billion citizens. He asserted that India's economy cannot become fully self-reliant until its citizens commit to abandoning foreign products.
Modi tasked citizens with creating a list of products used in their homes and identifying those of foreign origin. He questioned, "When even Ganesha idols are imported, arriving with unopened eyes, can't we at least do this much to protect our culture by purchasing indigenous idols?"
Indirect Jab at China, Hints at US Trade
His speech included a pointed critique of China, without explicitly naming the country. He noted that from Holi colors and water guns to children's toys, cheap Chinese products have dominated the Indian market. He stressed this isn't just a trade issue; it's an attack on India's self-reliance. He also alluded to countries like the US, suggesting that even substantial profits must be sacrificed if they compromise the nation's economic independence.
The Prime Minister stated that traders must be persuaded, village by village, to refrain from selling foreign goods. He enthusiastically declared that while earnings might temporarily decrease, the rewards of patriotism are infinite. He called upon BJP workers and social workers to launch campaigns in villages and cities to encourage the adoption of indigenous products.
The Aspiration to Become the Third Largest Economy
Modi emphasized that India is rapidly progressing towards becoming the world's third-largest economy, but using domestically produced goods is essential to maintain this momentum. He stressed that Atmanirbhar Bharat is not merely a slogan but the foundation of future strength. He challenged every Indian to decide whether they would prioritize profit from foreign products or enhance the nation's prestige.
Concluding his address, Prime Minister Modi appealed to the citizens: "You are not just citizens; you are the guardians of this nation. Operation Sindur signifies not only combating enemies at the border but also expelling foreign goods that have infiltrated our homes."
