Crime News: Panic ensued in Gorakhpur's Gulriha police station area on Thursday night when two policemen returning from duty were suddenly attacked by some youths. The incident occurred around 8:30 PM when the two constables, stationed at the medical outpost, were returning to their Banjaraha residence near the police station after depositing mail. A youth suddenly appeared in front of their motorbike, and a verbal altercation escalated into violence.
Attack Taking Advantage of the Crowd, One Constable's Lip Split
When the constables reprimanded the youth for appearing in front of their motorbike, one of his accomplices slapped a constable. As the policemen attempted to apprehend them and take them to the station, just 20 meters from the station, the accused's family members and others arrived on the scene. Taking advantage of the crowd, a youth attacked a constable's face, splitting his lip. The other constable's uniform was also torn.
Gulriha Police's Swift Action, Three Accused in Custody
Upon receiving information about the attack, the Gulriha station house officer along with his force arrived at the scene and immediately apprehended three youths – Satyam, Shivam, and Sahul. Based on the constables' complaint, a case has been registered against the accused under serious sections, including attempted murder, assault on a public servant, and abduction. The police are currently conducting raids to apprehend the other attackers.
Police Officer Provides Information, Search for Other Accused Continues
Commenting on the incident, SP City Abhinav Tyagi stated that the attack was serious, and three youths were apprehended from the scene. The police have registered a case under relevant sections and initiated further action. He also mentioned that the search for other accused involved in the incident is underway and they will be apprehended soon.
