A tragic incident occurred at Lokbandhu Hospital in Lucknow on Monday night when a fire broke out unexpectedly. Upon receiving the news, the hospital administration and staff immediately began evacuating patients to safety.
Lucknow: On Monday night, a devastating fire engulfed the ICU and female medicine ward of the city's Lokbandhu Hospital. The fire, believed to have been caused by a short circuit, created panic within the hospital. The flames were intense, filling the air with thick smoke and creating a critical situation. Doctors, nurses, and hospital staff worked tirelessly to evacuate patients, successfully shifting 250 patients to other hospitals.
One Death Amidst Chaos and Rescue Efforts
News of the fire caused panic among patients and their relatives. The situation became so critical that many family members pleaded for help in rescuing their loved ones. Hospital staff and firefighters, risking their own safety, evacuated patients. However, one patient, 61-year-old Rajkumar Prajapati, died as a result of the fire. His family alleges that his death was caused by a disruption in oxygen supply following a power outage.
Short Circuit Caused Fire; Fire Brigade Delayed
Following the fire, fire trucks initially struggled to reach the hospital's main gate due to its narrow entrance. After an hour of effort, smaller vehicles were able to access the hospital. By then, the fire had spread significantly. Police, hospital staff, and firefighters used mobile phone lights to assist in the evacuation of patients.
Chief Minister Directs Relief Efforts
Deputy Chief Minister of Lucknow, Brijesh Pathak, visited the hospital after the incident and gathered information from officials. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also spoke to officials over the phone regarding the relief efforts and directed swift action. The CM ordered the immediate deployment of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to the scene.
Although the hospital has been completely evacuated, Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak stated that all relocated patients will receive free treatment, equivalent to what they received at Lokbandhu Hospital. Patients have been shifted to Civil, Balrampur, KGMU, and other hospitals.
Following this incident, health officials in Lucknow have been put on high alert to take appropriate measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
