Her husband and filmmaker, Boney Kapoor, made the significant announcement, revealing his plans to produce Mom 2 and his intention to cast one of his daughters in the lead role. Sridevi's two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, are establishing themselves in Bollywood, and one of them may now star in this sequel to their mother's memorable film.

During an interaction with the media at the IIFA 2025 green carpet, Boney Kapoor praised his daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. He expressed his wish for both his daughters to achieve the same level of success in the industry as their mother. Boney Kapoor further revealed his plan to cast his younger daughter, Khushi Kapoor, in Mom 2.

Boney Kapoor stated, “I have seen all of Khushi’s films—The Archies, Loveyatri, and Nadaniya. Now, I am planning a new film with her, and it could be Mom 2. Khushi is fully trying to follow in her mother's footsteps. Sridevi was a top star in all the languages she worked in. I hope Khushi and Janhvi will reach that level too.”
Khushi Kapoor's Bollywood Journey
Khushi Kapoor made her Bollywood debut in 2023 with Zoya Akhtar's The Archies, released on Netflix, which received mixed reactions from audiences. This was followed by Loveyatri, where she starred alongside Aamir Khan's son, Junaid Khan. Recently, Khushi Kapoor appeared in Nadaniya, co-starring Saif Ali Khan's son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, marking his Bollywood debut.
