Maharashtra Crime News: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued a stern statement against "goonda raj" in the Beed district of Maharashtra. He said that such incidents will not be tolerated in Beed. This statement comes after Valmik Karad, the prime suspect in the murder of Massajog village Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, surrendered to the CID office in Pune on Tuesday (December 31st).

Valmik Karad is accused of abducting and murdering Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh on December 9th. Since the murder, Karad was on the run, and legislators from both the ruling and opposition parties launched campaigns to apprehend him.

Before surrendering in Pune, Valmik Karad released a video in which he stated, "I have filed a complaint of false extortion at the Kez police station. I am surrendering to the Pune CID office, while possessing pre-arrest powers." Karad claimed that his name was being linked to the murder due to political reasons.

Heavy police deployment outside CID office

Valmik Karad surrendered to the CID office by arriving in his car. A large number of activists gathered outside the CID office, and heavy police force was deployed in the area for security reasons.

Dispute surrounding Santosh Deshmukh's murder

Sources indicate that a dispute arose between Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh and Sudarshan Ghule concerning the Pavanchikki project in Massajog village. Sudarshan Ghule repeatedly demanded a recount, which led to a conflict between the two, potentially contributing to the murder of Santosh Deshmukh.

Four arrests made in the murder case so far

Four suspects have been arrested in this murder case: Jayaram Chaute, Mahesh Kedars, Pratik Ghule, and Vishnu Chaute. The prime suspects, Sudarshan Ghule, Krishna Andhale, and Sudhir Sangale, remain at large.

Valmik Karad's connections

Valmik Karad is considered close to Dhananjay Munde and oversees all government and social programs in the district. Karad has previously been involved in serious criminal cases. His influence in the district grew while Dhananjay Munde served as the MLA.
