An unusual scene unfolded in the Bihar Legislative Assembly on Tuesday when Mukesh Roshan, a legislator from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), arrived carrying lollipops, rattles, and balloons.
Patna: On Tuesday, an unusual sight was witnessed in the Bihar Legislative Assembly when RJD MLA Mukesh Roshan arrived with lollipops, rattles, and balloons. This demonstration was in protest against the 2025-26 state budget, accusing the Nitish government of misleading the public.
Speaking to the media in the assembly premises, Mukesh Roshan stated that Nitish Kumar's government has failed on all fronts and the budget lacks any concrete provisions for the people. He said, "The Bihar government is giving the people lollipops and rattles. This budget is merely for show and offers no benefits to the common man."
Tejashwi Yadav also attacks the budget
Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, also launched a scathing attack on the government, calling the budget a complete sham. He stated that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, by patting Finance Minister Samrat Chaudhary on the back, unsuccessfully attempted to deflect attention from the budget's hollowness. Tejashwi said, "The government's budget lacks any concrete plans. Its size has been increased, but the source of funds remains unspecified. It's a budget designed to mislead the public."
The RJD, along with the Congress and other opposition parties, rejected the budget. The opposition parties claimed that the government completely ignored their demands. Tejashwi Yadav pointed out that the government should have announced a monthly allowance of ₹2500 under the "My Sister Respect Scheme," but this was overlooked.
Opposition protests in Bihar to continue
Opposition parties indicated their intention to continue opposing the budget, staging protests both inside and outside the assembly to highlight the government's policies to the public. Mukesh Roshan stated that the protests would not be limited to the assembly but would reach the people, making them aware that the government is merely offering them "lollipops." This session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly is expected to be tumultuous, with the opposition parties poised to confront the government on every issue.
