Following this statement, opposition parties launched a scathing attack on the BJP, calling it an insult to historical figures.

MP Pradeep Purohit's Statement

MP Pradeep Purohit said, "A saint named Girija Baba told me that the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's previous birth was as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Therefore, he is working in nation-building." His statement caused an uproar in the house, leading the Deputy Chairman to order its removal from the proceedings.

Opposition Attacks BJP

The opposition bly reacted to the BJP MP's statement. Congress MP Varsha Eknath Gaikwad tweeted, "The BJP is continuously insulting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. First, they insulted him by placing his hat on Narendra Modi's head, and now this statement. This is a calculated conspiracy by the BJP. We bly condemn it and demand an apology from Narendra Modi."

Furthermore, the NCP and Shiv Sena (Uddhav group) also bly objected to the statement, calling it an attempt to distort history.
