According to local police and eyewitnesses, the bus driver was likely driving under the influence of alcohol. Some passengers reported seeing him drinking, strengthening suspicions that the accident was caused by negligence and intoxication. Police are investigating this aspect. Rescue efforts were launched swiftly after the incident. The injured have been admitted to four different hospitals in Uyuni, where medical teams are providing continuous treatment.
