Voting for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections concluded on February 5th, with results scheduled for announcement on February 8th. However, various exit polls have already been released, generating mixed reactions among supporters of different parties.
Delhi Election: Voting for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections concluded peacefully on February 5th. The fates of all 699 candidates are now sealed in the EVMs, with results to be declared on February 8th. Meanwhile, exit poll results from various survey agencies have been released, indicating a significant victory for the BJP. If these results prove accurate, the BJP will return to power after a gap of 26 years.
The exit poll results have boosted enthusiasm within the BJP camp. On the other hand, the results are a major setback for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), as the party appears to be losing its dominance after four elections. The situation also looks bleak for the Congress, which shows little sign of a significant performance. Reactions from the three major parties have begun to emerge.
BJP Leader Pravesh Verma's Statement
BJP leader and candidate from New Delhi, Pravesh Verma, expressed gratitude to Delhi's voters in a conversation with news agency IANS. He said, "I thank the people of Delhi for voting with such enthusiasm. They have voted thoughtfully for positive change. A BJP government is a necessity for us and for Delhi." Verma also noted that Delhi has been without a BJP government for 26 years, despite the numerous achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
He expressed regret, stating, "We have missed these opportunities for 10 years. If we had gotten the chance, even better work could have been done in Delhi." Verma expressed confidence in a potential BJP victory and hoped for change in Delhi.
AAP Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar's Response
Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar dismissed the exit poll results and expressed confidence. She stated, "Exit poll results regarding AAP were inaccurate in the 2013, 2015, and 2020 elections, yet we formed a government with a resounding majority each time. This time will be no different." Kakkar said that exit polls, whether for Maharashtra, Haryana, or Lok Sabha elections, have often proven wrong, and this one will be no exception.
She also claimed that some surveys show AAP with a lead. Expressing trust in the voters, she said, "Wait for the 8th. Arvind Kejriwal Ji is returning with a majority once again."
Congress Leader's Statement
Congress leader Sandeep Dixit gave a restrained response to the exit poll results in an interview with a news agency. He said, "We should wait for February 8th. We fought a good election. The Congress, which was considered insignificant in Delhi, has changed the entire equation." He emphasized that when a party reaches the level of changing the equation, it can achieve any outcome. Sandeep Dixit expressed confidence in the possibility of a Congress comeback, suggesting positive results may emerge after the counting of votes.
