Union Power Minister, Mr. Manoj Lal, delivered a significant address on Saturday regarding India's burgeoning renewable energy capacity. He stated that the government is rapidly working towards achieving its target of 500 gigawatts of green energy generation by 2030.
Greater Noida: Union Power Minister Manoj Lal, on Saturday, gave a major address focusing on India's expanding renewable energy capabilities. He emphasized the government's swift progress towards its goal of generating 500 gigawatts of green energy by 2030. He highlighted the crucial role of unique innovations and active industrial participation in this endeavor.
He was speaking at 'Electrama 2025,' an event organized by the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA) in Greater Noida. During his speech, he underscored the power sector's role as the engine of India's economic growth and stressed the necessity of adopting new technologies.
Advanced Technology Needed for Green Energy
Minister Manoj Lal stated that as India progresses towards cleaner energy, it needs to innovate in advanced power electronics, cost-effective transformers, smart grid solutions, and high-efficiency power converters. He urged industry participants to contribute to this goal by embracing innovative technologies.
He said, "If industry and the government work together effectively, the target of 500 gigawatts of renewable energy can be achieved even before the deadline."
38-Fold Increase in Solar Power, Next Targets Set
Highlighting India's progress, the Minister mentioned that since 2014, the country's renewable energy capacity has increased 2.81 times, reaching 200 gigawatts. Solar power, in particular, has seen unprecedented growth, increasing 38 times to surpass 100 gigawatts. "India is not only promoting renewable energy but also modernizing its transmission network for efficient distribution," he stated. He added that new technologies like Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substations need to be adopted to strengthen the grid system.
Emphasis on E-mobility and Battery Swapping
Referring to e-mobility as a crucial component of the clean energy drive, the Union Minister said India should promote more battery-swapping stations, fast chargers, and vehicle-to-grid systems. This will not only help reduce pollution but also accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. Manoj Lal also emphasized that the government will fully support investors in the renewable energy sector. He encouraged industry representatives to utilize the various government schemes and incentive packages.
