Prayagraj's Kumbh Mela 2025 is witnessing a sea of faith. Devotees are arriving from across the country, with a continuous influx continuing on Tuesday. The number of devotees who have taken a dip in the Sangam has crossed 630 million. The District Magistrate of Prayagraj, Ravindra Mandar, stated regarding the preparations for the Maha Shivaratri bath, "All our arrangements are complete. Special arrangements have been made for cleanliness and security at the Shiva temples."
Six IPS officers have been deployed in Prayagraj to facilitate the Maha Shivaratri bath, in addition to the more than 40 already stationed. The DM of Prayagraj stated, "Police forces have been deployed at all important locations to ensure the devotees can bathe safely." Over 630 million devotees have already taken the holy dip in the Ganga and Sangam.
According to a government statement, this number is expected to exceed 650 million by February 26th, the conclusion of the Maha Shivaratri bath. Considering the huge crowds, the fair area has been declared a no-vehicle zone from 4 PM today, while vehicle entry will be prohibited in the Prayagraj commissionerate area from 6 PM.
The administration has requested devotees to bathe at their nearest ghats. Devotees coming from Dakshini Jhulsi have been specifically requested to bathe at the Airavat Ghat. As of 10 AM today, 5.076 million devotees have taken the holy dip. Since the commencement of the Kumbh Mela on January 13th, the number of devotees has been steadily increasing. So far, 638.7 million devotees have taken a holy bath at the Sangam, and the influx of devotees continues.
Strict Action Against Troublemakers – DIG
Keeping the convenience and safety of the devotees in mind, the administration has made special arrangements for traffic and transportation during the Kumbh Mela 2025. Separate routes have been designated for the smooth movement of devotees from the fair area to the city, while diversions on the pontoon bridge and main roads will be implemented based on crowd density.
The DIG of the Kumbh Mela, Vaibhav Krishna, speaking to the media, clarified that strict action is being taken against those inciting trouble. Security forces are fully alert to prevent any misinformation or false news from causing confusion among the devotees.
