Three new world records are expected to be set on February 24th and 25th. These record attempts were initially scheduled for February 14th to 17th, but the dates were extended due to overwhelming crowds.

Prayagraj: The Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj is poised to witness the creation of three world records on February 24th and 25th, 2025. On February 24th, approximately 15,000 sanitation workers will undertake a 10km cleaning drive, aiming for a new record. The following day, February 25th, will see 10,000 people participating in a hand-printing event, alongside a record attempt for the simultaneous operation of 550 shuttle buses.

Initially, a record for the operation of e-rickshaws was planned, but this has been replaced with the shuttle bus record. These record attempts were originally planned for February 14th to 17th, but were postponed due to large crowds. A record was already set on February 14th with 300 sanitation workers participating in a river cleaning initiative.

Guinness World Records Team Arrives Tomorrow

The Guinness World Records team will arrive on February 22nd to oversee the three record attempts planned for February 24th and 25th. The Prayagraj Mela Vikas Pradhikaran has completed preparations for this significant event. It's noteworthy that three world records were also set during the 2019 Kumbh Mela.

Since its commencement on January 13th, the Kumbh Mela has already seen over 58 crore (580 million) devotees taking a dip in the Sangam, a massive record in itself. The Kumbh Mela has now been declared an intangible cultural heritage of the world and is now the world's largest gathering of people. No other event has witnessed such a massive congregation. Furthermore, four more world records are anticipated during the Kumbh Mela, adding to its historical significance.

Multiple Records to be Set at the Kumbh Mela

Instead of operating 1000 e-rickshaws, as initially planned, 550 shuttle buses will be deployed on the Triveni Marg, located at the parade ground of the Kumbh Mela, to achieve the record. Due to the immense crowds, e-rickshaw operations proved unfeasible, and the shuttle buses will operate on the highway. According to Vijay Kiran Anand, the Kumbh Mela Officer, another record will be set on February 25th by collecting handprints from 10,000 people.

The Kumbh Mela began on January 13th, and over 58 crore (580 million) devotees have already taken a holy dip in the Sangam. The final Shahi Snan (royal bath) will take place on February 26th, coinciding with Mahashivratri, potentially exceeding 60 crore (600 million) devotees. The government had initially estimated the attendance of 45 crore (450 million) devotees.
