Mahu Violence: Following India's victory in the Champions Trophy final match, the situation in Mahu, Indore district, escalated during the night. Stone pelting and arson occurred during a victory procession. Police have so far arrested 13 individuals, and investigations are ongoing.
Stone Pelting Near a Mosque
Reports suggest that when the procession reached a mosque, some anti-social elements began pelting stones. Vehicles were vandalized, and several shops were set on fire. Police, using CCTV footage and videos circulating on social media, identified and arrested 13 rioters.
Hindu Jagran Manch Protest
Throughout the night, following the incident, the Collector and police officials patrolled sensitive areas. However, the situation normalized by morning, and markets reopened. Meanwhile, the Hindu Jagran Manch called for a Mahu bandh in protest against the stone pelting.
Army on Alert
Considering the gravity of the situation, the army in the Mahu cantonment area was placed on high alert. A quick reaction team reached the affected area and assisted the police in maintaining security. Soldiers were deployed throughout the night.
