Kolkata (February 27) – West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee leveled serious allegations against the BJP's victories in Delhi and Maharashtra. Banerjee claimed that the BJP won these states by using fraudulent voters from Haryana and Gujarat. She questioned the Election Commission's neutrality and stated that she would stage a sit-in protest in front of the Election Commission's office, if necessary, to demand the removal of these fraudulent voters' names.

Banerjee made these remarks at a meeting held at Netaji Stadium in Kolkata last Thursday. The meeting was attended by MPs, MLAs, and block-level leaders. Banerjee's statement could further escalate the political climate in the run-up to the upcoming Assembly elections.

Banerjee Questions EC's Neutrality

Banerjee also accused the newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner, K.K. Khanna, of being influenced by the BJP. She stated, "Free and fair elections are not possible unless the Election Commission remains neutral." This statement has intensified discussions regarding preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for next year in the state.

Abhishek Banerjee Denies Rumors of Joining BJP
