The Minister of Civil Aviation has directed airlines not to increase fares on the Srinagar route. Free cancellation and date change facilities are also being offered until April 30th.
New Delhi: Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the central government has begun closely monitoring airfares to Srinagar. Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu held an emergency meeting with airlines and directed that there should be no increase in fares on the Srinagar route. Airlines have also been instructed to offer concessions on ticket cancellations and date changes for the convenience and relief of passengers.
Airlines Instructed to Maintain Normal Fares
In the meeting, the Civil Aviation Minister clearly stated that all airlines must maintain normal fare levels. Fares should not be increased suddenly under any circumstances. He also instructed that airlines must cooperate with state governments and local administrations in transporting the bodies of the deceased to their home states.
Additional Flights and Cancellation Concessions
Considering the increasing number of passengers, some major airlines have started operating additional flights to Srinagar:
1. Air India
Flights from Srinagar to Delhi will operate at 11:30 AM and to Mumbai at 12:00 PM. Free cancellation and rescheduling facilities are being offered for flights booked until April 30th.
2. IndiGo
Two special flights will operate from Delhi and Mumbai to Srinagar on April 23rd. IndiGo has announced free change and cancellation facilities until April 30th for all tickets booked until April 22nd.
3. Akasa Air
Free cancellation and a first-time schedule change facility will be provided for all flights to and from Srinagar between April 23rd and 29th.
4. Air India Express
This airline operates 80 weekly flights from Srinagar to Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jammu, and Kolkata. Ticket cancellation and date change facilities will be free until April 30th.
