Washington D.C./New York: Over 1,200 cities across all 50 US states witnessed peaceful protests against the policies of former President Donald Trump. These protests represent the largest mobilization of US citizens since the Women’s March (2017) and Black Lives Matter (2020) movements.

More than 150 civic groups, civil rights organizations, labor unions, LGBTQ+ advocates, and election activists participated in these demonstrations. Protesters voiced their opposition to Trump's economic policies, immigration rules, human rights decisions, and cuts to government services.

'Hands Off' Campaign Demonstrates Unity

The “Hands Off Movement” saw protesters criticizing government actions on issues such as layoffs, the closure of Social Security offices, cuts to transgender healthcare, and stricter immigration policies. Several protesters labeled Elon Musk a "threat to democracy."

In Portland and Los Angeles, hundreds marched from Pershing Square to City Hall, chanting slogans. Protesters argued that the Trump administration acted against the interests of ordinary citizens.

White House Response

Responding to the protests, the White House stated that President Trump supports providing Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid only to eligible US citizens. Conversely, they claimed that Democrats wish to extend these benefits to undocumented immigrants, potentially bankrupting the system.

Trump Plays Golf Amidst Nationwide Protests

While nationwide protests unfolded, Trump was seen at his lavish golf course in Palm Beach, Florida. One protester remarked, "The country is falling apart, and Trump is playing golf. He doesn't care."
