Intense political tension is gripping Punjab. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora as its candidate for the Ludhiana West by-election.

Chandigarh: Punjab's political landscape is charged with excitement. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has declared Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora as its candidate for the Ludhiana West by-election. This decision has fueled speculation that Delhi Chief Minister and AAP's national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, may soon enter the Rajya Sabha. However, the party has yet to release an official statement on this matter.

The Path Clears for Kejriwal?

The Ludhiana West seat fell vacant following the sudden demise of MLA Gurpreet Goggi. Nominating Sanjeev Arora is considered a significant political strategy. If Arora wins the by-election, he is likely to resign from the Rajya Sabha, leaving a vacant parliamentary seat for the AAP. This scenario strengthens the possibility of Arvind Kejriwal being sent to the Rajya Sabha.

Rajya Sabha Seat in Exchange for a Ministerial Position?

According to political analysts, nominating Sanjeev Arora for Ludhiana West is not merely limited to the by-election. Two ministerial positions are vacant in Bhagwant Mann's cabinet, and if Arora wins, he might be inducted into the cabinet. In return, he could vacate his Rajya Sabha seat, facilitating Kejriwal's entry.

Opposition Raises Serious Allegations

The opposition has bly reacted to the AAP's move. Congress leader and former AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira alleged that Kejriwal is planning to enter the Rajya Sabha through the "back door" to retain power. He wrote on social media, "The plan to make Sanjeev Arora a minister is solely to give his Rajya Sabha seat to Kejriwal. This directly indicates external interference in Punjab's politics."

AAP Strategy or a New Political Tactic?

The AAP leadership is yet to respond, but party sources suggest that nominating Sanjeev Arora is a calculated strategy. This could strengthen AAP's hold in Punjab, while also providing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with a new platform for parliamentary representation.
