US Issues Travel Advisory Against Kashmir Following Pulwama Attack

Following a terrorist attack in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, the U.S. Department of State has advised its citizens against traveling to Kashmir, issuing a warning regarding the security situation.

India-Pak: Following the terrorist attack in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, security measures have been tightened across India. The attack claimed the lives of 26 innocent people, mostly tourists. In response, India has taken several strategic decisions against Pakistan.

Following these events, the United States has issued a new travel advisory for its citizens. The U.S. Department of State bly advises its citizens against traveling to Jammu and Kashmir.

What did the U.S. Department of State advisory say?

In a statement released from Washington, the U.S. Department of State stated:

“U.S. citizens are reminded that the potential for terrorist attacks and violent civil unrest remains in Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore, avoiding travel to this region is recommended for safety.”

The advisory also stated that several cities in India are currently on high alert, and the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, in particular, remains sensitive.

India's Stringent Actions Against Pakistan

Following the Pulwama terrorist attack, the Indian government has taken a b stance against terrorism. Following a security meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has taken the following steps:

1. Suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty - India has temporarily suspended the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, which governs water distribution between India and Pakistan.

2. Reduction in Diplomatic Ties - India has declared Pakistan's military and defense advisors as persona non grata, ordering them to leave the country within a week. Additionally, India has decided to recall its diplomats from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.

3. Changes to Visa Policy - The Indian government has revoked all visas issued under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES). Furthermore, Pakistani citizens have been ordered to leave the country within 48 hours.

4. Closure of the Attari Border - The Attari-Wagah border has been closed with immediate effect, completely halting cross-border movement.

India's 'Digital Strike'

Following the Pulwama attack, India also took b action on the digital front. The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Pakistani government in India has been suspended.
