Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra is on the run following a police raid. He has released a video expressing fear for his life and has denied the allegations against him. Pathanmajra is accused of attacking a police team in Haryana, which he has termed false.
The police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) is conducting continuous raids to apprehend the MLA. The MLA, from an undisclosed location, released a video stating that he fears for his life and that the police are planning a fake encounter against him.
Pathanmajra Accuses Police of False Allegations
In the video, Pathanmajra claimed that hundreds of police personnel, including eight SPs, eight DSPs, five SHOs, and encounter specialist Bikram Brar, had come to apprehend him. He stated that he respects the police but is disappointed by their false allegations.
Harmeet further explained in the video that he fled in fear from a relative's house in Karnal and did not attack the police team in any way. He maintains that the alleged attack, as propagated by the police, is entirely false and fabricated.
Balwinder Singh Arrested During Raid at Pathanmajra's Relative's House
DIG of Patiala Range, Kuldeep Chahal, stated that the MLA is currently absconding and police teams are active in their efforts to apprehend him. The DIG declined to comment on Pathanmajra's allegations and directed inquiries for further information to the Patiala SSP.
According to Patiala Police, Pathanmajra's associate, Balwinder Singh, was arrested on Tuesday during a raid at the Haryana-based residence of the MLA's relative. Three pistols were recovered from Balwinder.
MLA Faces Allegations of Sexual Exploitation and Fraud
Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra is facing allegations of sexual exploitation, fraud, and threats. The complainant has accused the MLA of marrying through deceit and issuing continuous threats. An FIR has been registered at the Patiala Civil Lines Police Station.
Patiala Police have denied any firing or exchange of gunfire. Investigating Officer SI Shri Bhagwan stated that the police team did not inform Patiala Civil Lines about the raid in Dabri, and no confrontation or firing occurred.
