Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Dharmapuri Arvind has claimed that his party will win the 2028 Telangana Assembly elections and form the government independently. At a press conference in Nizamabad on Thursday, October 22, 2026, he alleged that the Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) were engaged in discussions over a possible secret agreement and raised questions about Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and BRS leaders.
Dharmapuri Arvind said the BJP would contest the next Telangana Assembly elections without forming an alliance with any other party. He said the party was continuing its political activities and preparing to win the elections through its own organisation and candidates.
He also rejected claims that the BJP had reduced its political activities in Telangana, stating that the party remained active and was working with the 2028 elections in mind.
Arvind claimed that a saffron wave would sweep Telangana in 2028, describing it as a “saffron tsunami”. He predicted that both the Congress and the BRS would lose the elections.
During the press conference, Arvind questioned the relationship between Telangana's two major political parties, alleging that the Congress and the BRS were holding discussions about a possible secret agreement.
According to the BJP MP, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was the biggest obstacle to the potential arrangement. He claimed that some leaders from both parties were attempting to protect each other from political damage.
No concrete evidence of a secret agreement between the Congress and the BRS has been presented in the report. The allegation remains a political claim made by the BJP MP.
Arvind also claimed that the Congress central leadership was dissatisfied with Revanth Reddy's performance as chief minister.
He alleged that discontent over the chief minister existed within the party and could affect Telangana's political landscape in the coming period.
Arvind further claimed that internal differences within the Congress could weaken the party. However, the Congress leadership has not officially confirmed any such dissatisfaction.
The Congress is in power in Telangana, while the BRS is in opposition. The BJP is seeking to strengthen its political position against both parties.
The BJP MP accused the previous BRS government in Telangana of corruption, specifically raising concerns about the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.
Arvind alleged that there had been widespread irregularities in decisions and work associated with the project. He targeted former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and other BRS leaders over the issue.
The Kaleshwaram project is one of Telangana's principal irrigation schemes and aims to transport water from the Godavari River to different areas.
The BJP has repeatedly raised allegations of corruption in connection with the project. However, the allegations made by Arvind should not be treated as equivalent to a final court judgment.
Arvind also commented on BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR. Mocking KTR over his beard, the BJP MP said that growing a beard alone would not make someone the chief minister.
He also questioned the BRS's social media campaign, alleging that the party was attempting to improve its public image online but would not be able to change public opinion through such efforts.
Arvind said that publicity alone was insufficient to secure political office, adding that public support and electoral victory were also necessary.
Arvind said the BJP's objective in Telangana was clear: the party wanted to form the government without relying on another political party. He said it was preparing to contest the elections on the strength of its candidates and organisational network.
He also claimed that internal tensions within the Congress could intensify, while the BRS was struggling to regain its previous political standing.
The next Telangana Assembly elections are scheduled for 2028. Arvind's electoral predictions will be tested when the elections take place. The responses of the Congress and the BRS to his allegations remain to be seen.
