Adarsh Singh Smashes Record-Breaking Double Century for Uttar Pradesh in U23 State A Trophy

Uttar Pradesh's explosive opener Adarsh Singh has made history by scoring a magnificent double century with a splendid performance. He played this spectacular innings in the Quarter Final 2 match of the Men's Under-23 State A Trophy Elite, held at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.

SPORTS NEWS: Adarsh Singh, an emerging star of Indian cricket who represented India in the 2024 Under-19 World Cup, has created a sensation in domestic cricket with his explosive batting. Playing for Uttar Pradesh, Adarsh etched new history by smashing an unbeaten knock of 223 runs against a b team like Mumbai in the Quarter Final-2 match of the Men's Under-23 State A Trophy Elite. This match was played at Mumbai's prestigious Wankhede Stadium.

Thanks to Adarsh Singh's historic innings, Uttar Pradesh, batting first, posted a colossal total of 453/5, putting immense pressure on Mumbai.

A Patient Start, Followed by a Stormy Display

Adarsh Singh began his innings with great prudence. He spent time at the crease before unleashing aggression, completing his first half-century in 67 balls. Subsequently, he accelerated and struck his century in 103 balls. After reaching his hundred, Adarsh appeared to be in an entirely different zone. The most astonishing aspect was that he covered the journey from 100 to 200 runs in just 26 balls. Reaching a double century in such a short span is considered an exceedingly rare achievement in domestic cricket.

In his unbeaten innings of 138 balls, he hammered 18 sixes and 14 fours. His strike rate and shot selection astounded both spectators and cricket experts.

Adarsh and Swastik's Century Opening Partnership

The b foundation of Uttar Pradesh's innings was laid by Adarsh Singh and Swastik Chikara. Together, they forged an excellent opening partnership of 113 runs in 16.2 overs. Swastik Chikara also batted briskly, scoring 73 runs off 58 balls, including 8 fours and 5 sixes. Atharva Bhonsle dismissed Swastik Chikara for Mumbai. Although Uttar Pradesh's command wavered briefly thereafter, Adarsh Singh remained steadfast at the crease, maintaining the scoring rate.

Apart from Adarsh, Ali Zafir Mohsin contributed 31 runs, though he too was dismissed before playing a big innings. Zaid Patankar sent two Uttar Pradesh batsmen, Ritiraj Sharma and Hrithik Vats, back to the pavilion quickly, but by then Uttar Pradesh was well on its way to a massive total. Captain Sameer Rizvi also couldn't stay at the crease for long. Despite this, Adarsh Singh held one end firmly and remained unbeaten until the end, guiding his team to a formidable score of 453 runs.

Showed Mettle in Under-19 World Cup Too

Adarsh Singh is not a new name. He represented India in the 2024 Under-19 Men's World Cup. In that tournament, he scored 238 runs in 7 innings, including 2 half-centuries. His average was approximately 34, which is considered quite impressive for a young player. In the final match against Australia, Adarsh Singh played a crucial innings of 47 runs off 77 balls under pressure. 

However, the Indian team suffered a 79-run defeat in that final, but Adarsh was India's highest scorer in that match.
