AIIMS Patna Resident Doctors End 10-Day Strike After FIR Filed Against MLA

The strike by resident doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna, ended on Tuesday. The doctors, who had been on an indefinite strike for 10 days in protest against the alleged misbehavior of Shivhar MLA Chetan Anand, decided to call it off citing public interest and ethical responsibility.

Decision Taken in Public Interest

Announcing the end of the strike, the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) said that this decision was taken keeping in mind the broader public interest and ethical responsibility towards patient care. The organization clarified that suspending the strike does not mean that the doctors have backed down from their demands, but rather that it is a responsible and positive step. The RDA stated that the organization is vigilant and united and trusts that the administration will fulfill its promises.

Decision After FIR Filed

The RDA informed that an FIR has been registered against MLA Chetan Anand and his security personnel regarding the alleged assault on a resident doctor. The organization says that their main demands have been accepted by the administration and are being acted upon. The statement said that calling off the strike is a symbol of goodwill, but doctors will remain united in any future situation.

What was the matter?

Doctors at AIIMS-Patna began the strike in protest against the alleged high-handedness of Shivhar MLA Chetan Anand. The RDA wrote a letter to the hospital administration demanding legal action against Chetan Anand and also appealed to tighten security arrangements on the hospital premises. It was alleged that doctors had received death threats. MLA Chetan Anand had arrived with his wife to see an acquaintance, where the dispute occurred. Both parties had filed complaints at the police station in the matter.
