Anant Jeet Singh Naruka Clinches Gold at Asian Shooting Championship; Saurabh-Suruchi Pair Bags Bronze

Indian shooters have delivered a stellar performance at the Asian Shooting Championship currently underway in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. Indian shooter Anant Jeet Singh Naruka won his first individual gold medal in his career by defeating Kuwait's Mansour Al Rashidi in the men's skeet final.

Sports News: Indian shooters have once again showcased outstanding performance at the Asian Shooting Championship 2025. Young star Anant Jeet Singh Naruka created history by winning the gold medal in the men's skeet event, while the pair of Saurabh Chaudhary and Suruchi Inder Singh clinched the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.

This victory is even more special for India because Naruka won his first individual gold medal in this tournament, while the pair of Saurabh and Suruchi kept India's hopes alive in the team event.

Naruka Defeats Former Champion in Final

In the men's skeet final, 25-year-old Anant Jeet Singh Naruka from Rajasthan put on a tremendous performance, defeating experienced Kuwaiti player and former Asian champion Mansour Al Rashidi. In an exciting final, Naruka won by a very narrow margin of 57-56. In the qualification round, Naruka secured his place in the final after scoring 119 points after five rounds, finishing in second place. Kuwait's Abdul Aziz Al Saad was at the top with 120 points, while Al Rashidi was third with 119 points.

Demonstrating tremendous accuracy in the final, Naruka maintained his rhythm till the end and became one of the few Indian shooters to win an individual gold at the Asian Championship. This is his fifth medal overall at the Asian level in his career.

Saurabh-Suruchi Pair Wins Bronze

India's happiness increased further after the gold in men's skeet when the pair of Saurabh Chaudhary and Suruchi Inder Singh won the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. In the bronze medal match, the Indian pair defeated the Chinese Taipei pair of Liu Heng Yu and Hsieh Hsiang by 17-9 to win. In the qualification round, Saurabh and Suruchi were in fifth place with a total score of 758 points. In the final, the gold medal match was between China and South Korea, in which China won 16-12 to secure the first position.

India's Growing Medal List

The performance of Indian shooters in the Asian Shooting Championship is constantly improving. On Tuesday, Manu Bhaker won a bronze medal in the women's 10m air pistol event. Now, Naruka's gold and the bronze of the Saurabh-Suruchi pair have further strengthened India's medal list. This performance is considered very important for India in terms of preparations for the 2026 Asian Games and the 2028 Olympics.
