Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has accused the BJP government of manipulating voter lists. On the final day for filing claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, he described the exercise as a conspiracy against democracy.
Gehlot said on social media platform X that the BJP had crossed all limits in the misuse of power. He alleged that attempts were made to delete names from the voter list in his own constituency of Sardarapura. He said he spoke to State Election Commissioner Navin Mahajan over the phone, shared complete details of the matter, and demanded immediate action.
Gehlot said the day would be recorded as a black chapter in the history of Rajasthan’s democracy. He alleged that the BJP government used the administration to manipulate voter lists, which, according to him, amounted to a direct assault on public rights and democratic values.

He further said that the government, driven by the misuse of power, damaged the fairness of the electoral process, which could weaken public trust.
Gehlot alleged that on the final day of the SIR process, pressure was exerted in a planned manner on Booth Level Officers (BLOs) through Electoral Registration Officers (EROs). He claimed they were instructed to delete the names of Congress-supporting voters. He also alleged that in several places, Form-7 was provided to BLOs already filled in, which he said was a clear violation of rules.
The former chief minister said some administrative officers and BLOs resisted the pressure, but were threatened with transfers by leaders of the ruling party.
Issuing a warning to officials working under BJP pressure, Gehlot said governments change, but accountability for wrongful decisions is fixed. He said that if any officer violated rules and constitutional limits, strict action would be taken against them in the future. He appealed to officials to maintain neutrality and discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
