Bahraich. A 15-year-old boy was subjected to a murderous attack in Karikot village, under the Sujauli police station area. The assailants slit his throat and then dumped him on the banks of the Saryu river. With the help of local residents, he was taken to the hospital, where his condition remains critical.
The victim has been identified as Pritam, son of Surendra Pratap. On Wednesday, he had left his home when unknown individuals apprehended him and attacked him with a sharp weapon. The perpetrators left severely injured Pritam on the riverbank and fled.
The injured boy was first taken to Mihirpurwa CHC, from where he was referred to Lucknow due to his critical condition.
The Sujauli police have inspected the crime scene and intensified their investigation. Station House Officer Prakash Chandra Sharma stated that the accused would be identified and arrested soon.
Family members claim that the minor has named some suspicious individuals, who have not yet been arrested. A tense atmosphere prevails in the village following the incident.
