Saudi Shipping Company Bahri Accused of Shipping Weapons to Israel. Ship Intercepted in Italy. Company Denies Claims and Warns of Legal Action.
Saudi Arabia: Recently, the Saudi Arabian state-owned shipping company Bahri was accused of being involved in shipping weapons to Israel. Italian media reports claimed that the company's ship, Bahri Yanbu, was intercepted at an Italian port loaded with weapons. This news caused a stir internationally.
Official Response from Saudi Arabia
In a statement released on its website on Monday, Bahri completely denied all allegations. The company stated that these claims are "false and baseless." Bahri maintains that it supports Saudi Arabia's long-standing policy on the Palestinian issue. The company also clarified that it has never sent any goods or shipments to Israel, nor has it been involved in any such operations.
Warning of Legal Action
Bahri stated that all its operations are conducted in accordance with local and international laws. According to the company, its operations are subject to regular monitoring and review. They also warned that they are prepared to take legal action against any person or entity that makes false claims that damage the company's reputation.
What Appeared in Italian Media
Italian media reports claimed that on August 7, 2025, a ship named Bahri Yanbu was blocked at the Genoa port by approximately 40 port workers. According to the reports, the ship was loaded with weapons, ammunition, explosives, armored vehicles, and an Italian-made OTO Melara naval gun. It was also stated that this cargo was being sent to Israel.
Where Did the Weapons Come From?
According to the report, the ship departed from the port of Baltimore in the United States, and more weapons were to be loaded along the way. Italian labor unions decided to stop the ship because they claimed that the military goods were being sent directly to Israel.
