Politics in Bihar is heating up. Prashant Kishor has accused Minister Ashok Choudhary of possessing benami property worth ₹200 crore and taking commissions in tenders. Ashok Choudhary has dismissed the allegations. The case will be heard in court on October 17.

Patna: Bihar politics is abuzz once again. Prashant Kishor has publicly disclosed the complete funding and expenditure details of his party, Jan Suraaj. He explained the sources of his party's funds and how they are utilized. Concurrently, he has also leveled serious allegations against Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary.

Allegation of Benami Property

Prashant Kishor claims that Ashok Choudhary acquired benami property worth ₹200 crore after his daughter Shambhavi Choudhary's engagement. He demanded that Ashok Choudhary withdraw the defamation notice and publicly acknowledge the reality of this property. Prashant Kishor warned that if Ashok Choudhary fails to comply with his demands, he would make public the details of his other alleged black money amounting to ₹500 crore.

Allegation of Commission in Tenders

Prashant Kishor alleged that Ashok Choudhary took a 5 percent commission on tenders worth a total of ₹20,000 crore over the past eight months, and an additional 0.5 percent commission for payments. He questioned whether this money came from engineers or was obtained from some other source. This issue has stirred up Bihar politics, and opposition parties have also begun to react.

Ashok Choudhary Dismisses Allegations

Minister Ashok Choudhary termed Prashant Kishor's allegations false and misleading. He sent a defamation notice of ₹100 crore to Prashant Kishor, stating that his daughter's property is legitimate and has been mentioned in her election affidavit. Ashok Choudhary asserts that Prashant Kishor's allegations are a result of his nervousness and political frustration, and are merely intended to mislead.

Court Summons Issued

A Bihar court has issued a summons to Prashant Kishor to appear on October 17, 2025. Both parties will present their arguments in court regarding the defamation notice and the allegations. This case has created a stir in Bihar at both political and legal levels.

Samrat Choudhary's name has also been linked to this controversy. Samrat Choudhary was an accused in the murder of six people from the Kushwaha community in Tarapur in 1995. He claimed to be a minor to secure release from jail. According to his affidavit in 2020, his age was 26 years. Prashant Kishor stated that Nitish Kumar should dismiss him from the cabinet, failing which he would meet the Governor and demand his arrest.
