Retired IAS Officer's Noida Home Robbed by Domestic Helper, Organized Gang Suspected

A retired IAS officer's house in Noida was robbed by his Nepali domestic helper, who colluded with an organized gang. Cash and jewelry worth lakhs of rupees were stolen, and the police have initiated an investigation.

Noida: A major theft at the residence of retired IAS officer Devdutt Sharma, residing in Sector-39, has caused a stir in the area. According to the police, the officer's recently appointed Nepali domestic helper, Prakash Bahadur, along with his associates, stole jewelry, cash, and valuables worth lakhs of rupees. Authorities suspect this was a plan by an organized gang that infiltrates homes through domestic helpers to commit thefts.

Theft at Retired IAS Officer's House

Retired IAS officer Devdutt Sharma and his wife had gone to Lucknow. On the night of the theft, around 1 AM, the domestic helper Prakash Bahadur called his associates to the house, and they carried out the theft, arriving in a Maruti car. The thieves broke open lockers and wardrobes, taking jewelry, cash, and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees.

Local police officials stated that the theft was executed in a highly planned manner. The theft was carried out only after inspecting all rooms and wardrobes inside the house. This incident has become a cause for concern among the retired officer's family and neighbors.

Investigation into Domestic Helpers' Network in Theft

Police sources indicate that the domestic helper was not the only one involved in this incident; his associates also had a hand. Preliminary investigation suggests this could be a plan by an organized gang. Members of this gang infiltrate homes through domestic helpers and commit thefts as per a pre-arranged plan.

The police have scoured CCTV camera footage from the vicinity and commenced questioning all individuals present at the house. Officials stated that the network of domestic helpers is under surveillance, and the search for the culprits is ongoing.

Case of Theft at IPS Officer's House in Lucknow

This incident highlights the seriousness of security in Noida and its surrounding areas. Recently, a theft also occurred at the house of 2012 batch IPS officer Yamuna Prasad in Lucknow. The officer and his family were in Noida, while relatives were looking after the house.

Upon reaching the scene, police found that the rear window's grill had been cut and the room ransacked. During the theft, several wall clocks, wristwatches, silver coins, utensils, and cash were found missing. The police's preliminary investigation made it clear that the thieves had carefully planned the theft after conducting a reconnaissance of the house.

Questions Raised Over Security System

These recent incidents have raised questions about thefts committed through domestic helpers. Experts suggest that home security and surveillance systems need to be tightened. Not just CCTV cameras or local guards, but background checks for household staff should also be mandatory.

Following this incident, the police have increased vigilance in the area and are gathering information about all domestic helpers. Officials state that extensive action will be taken to apprehend other gang members and prevent such incidents in the future.
