Tragedy at Barabanki Temple: Electrocution Claims Two Lives, Several Injured

A tragic accident occurred in the Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, where two devotees died due to electrocution at the renowned Avsaaneshwar Mahadev Temple in the Haidergarh area, while several others were injured.

Barabanki Temple Accident: A heartbreaking incident took place on Monday at the Avsaaneshwar Mahadev Temple, located in the Haidergarh area of the Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh, when two devotees died and several others were injured after being electrocuted. A wave of mourning has swept across the state following this accident.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep sorrow over this unfortunate incident and has announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each to the families of the deceased.

How did the accident happen?

District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi, providing information about the accident, stated that some monkeys jumped on an electric wire passing over the temple premises, causing the wire to break and fall onto the tin shed of the temple. During this time, devotees present in the shed came into contact with the electric current. The incident was so sudden and severe that chaos erupted on the spot.

Number of Deceased and Condition of Injured

According to the Chief Medical Officer, 29 injured individuals were brought to the Haidergarh CHC after the accident, several of whom were discharged after receiving first aid.

  • 5 critically injured patients have been referred to Barabanki District Hospital.
  • So far, the deaths of 2 people have been confirmed, whose bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Expresses Grief

Expressing deep sorrow over this accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said: "The accident at Shri Avsaaneshwar Mahadev Temple complex in Janpad Barabanki is extremely saddening. My deepest condolences are with the families of the deceased. I pray to God to grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the families to bear this immense sorrow." CM Yogi also directed that the district administration should not be negligent in treating the injured and that relief work should be completed expeditiously.

Following the Chief Minister's orders, the government has announced compensation of ₹5 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Additionally, appropriate medical facilities are being provided to the injured. A safety inspection of the electrical wires in the temple complex has now been initiated to prevent such incidents in the future.

Administration Active at the Site

Immediately after the incident, police, fire brigade, and electricity department teams reached the spot. The temple complex was temporarily evacuated, and the electricity supply was cut off to prevent any further mishaps. The administration has instructed the temple committee to adhere to safety standards in the future. Authorities have ordered an investigation into the incident and have asked for a detailed report to be submitted soon.

Devotees of the Avsaaneshwar Mahadev Temple area are in shock due to this incident. Local people say that the electric wires were already in a dangerous condition, but no measures were taken in time. Many have raised questions about the negligence of the administration.
