Demand for Bharat Ratna for JMM Founder Shibu Soren Gains Momentum. Health Minister Irfan Ansari Urges President. Proposal Likely in Assembly.
Shibu Soren: The demand for posthumously awarding the Bharat Ratna to Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, the people's leader of Jharkhand and founder of JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), has intensified. Following his demise at the age of 81 at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi on August 4th, a wave of mourning spread throughout the state. Considering his contributions, voices are being raised not only in Jharkhand but across the country to honor him with the Bharat Ratna.
Minister Irfan Ansari's Initiative Receiving Support
Dr. Irfan Ansari, Minister of Health, Food Supply, and Disaster Management in the Jharkhand government, was the first to make this demand to President Droupadi Murmu. He stated that Dishom Guru dedicated his entire life to protecting water, forests, and land. Now, this demand is receiving widespread support at both political and social levels.
Likelihood of Proposal in the Assembly
There is a possibility of this demand being brought as a formal proposal in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. Leaders from various parties within and outside the assembly have indicated that they will support this initiative. JMM's Central General Secretary and spokesperson, Vinod Pandey, calling this demand completely justified, said that Dishom Guru's social and political contribution is nationwide and he should be awarded the Bharat Ratna.
Historical Role in the Jharkhand Movement
Shibu Soren fought for decades to get Jharkhand the status of a separate state. He worked to give the tribal society recognition on the national stage. His fight to protect water, forests, and land made him popular in every section of Jharkhand. Under his leadership, JMM gave direction to the Jharkhand movement and turned it into a successful mass movement.
Dishom Guru Remained a Supporter of Social Justice
Dishom Guru was not only a political leader but also a b advocate of social justice. He fought for the rights of tribals, the deprived, and the exploited by becoming their voice. In his long political life, he never compromised with principles and always prioritized public interest.
Support from Other Parties Also Received
The demand for Bharat Ratna is receiving support from various political parties. Former state president of Congress, Rajesh Thakur, said that Shibu Soren's contribution is incomparable. He realized the dream of making Jharkhand a separate state and established the identity of the entire state at the national level. He said that giving Bharat Ratna to Dishom Guru would be his true tribute.
Pappu Yadav and TMC MPs Also Advocated
MP from Purnia, Pappu Yadav, also reiterated the demand to award Shibu Soren the Bharat Ratna. He said that Dishom Guru was the voice of the deprived and exploited, and his contribution is indelible. TMC MP Derek O'Brien, along with many other national leaders, also supported the demand to award him the Bharat Ratna, remembering his social contribution. This demand has now crossed the borders of Jharkhand and has become a topic of discussion at the national level.
