Patna: The weather in Bihar is set to change once again. The impact of Cyclonic Storm Montha, which originated in the Bay of Bengal, is now moving towards North India. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning stating that several parts of the state may experience heavy rainfall accompanied by b winds on October 30 and 31. During this period, a drop in maximum temperatures will be observed, and Yellow and Orange alerts have been issued for many districts.
Cyclone Montha forms in Bay of Bengal
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Montha developed into a severe cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal on Monday morning. It is expected to make landfall late this evening or tonight between the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh — Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam.
After making landfall, the storm will gradually weaken and move towards Bihar via Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Jharkhand. By October 30, it will approach the state as a low-pressure area, intensifying the effects of rain and cold winds.
Warning of Heavy Rain on October 30-31

Weather experts have stated that many districts in North and South Bihar may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on October 30 and 31. Winds are also expected to blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.
During this period, the state's temperature could drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. The weather will remain normal until October 29, but after that, the effects of cold will begin to be felt. Farmers and the general public have been advised to remain alert.
Districts Most Affected by Cyclone Montha
On October 29, heavy rainfall is expected in Gaya, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Rohtas, and Bhabhua districts. On October 30, very heavy rainfall may occur in Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Banka, Jamui, and Sheikhpura.
On October 31, the highest rainfall is predicted for West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Darbhanga, and Araria. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also expected in Patna, Bhojpur, Nalanda, Buxar, and Kaimur.
Weather Forecast for Today
On Tuesday morning, light fog and cold winds were felt in Patna and surrounding areas. Partially cloudy skies are expected during the day, with a possibility of mild sunshine.
The Meteorological Department stated that there is no chance of rain today. Daytime temperatures will range between 29°C and 32°C, and nighttime temperatures between 20°C and 23°C. The weather pattern could change completely in the next two days, so people have been advised to exercise caution.
