A rift has openly emerged between the two main NDA constituents in Bihar—the BJP and the JDU—regarding law and order. Senior BJP leader Rameswar Chaurasia, expressing concerns over the escalating crime rate in the state, has questioned the working style of the Nitish government and demanded the implementation of the 'Yogi model' on the lines of Uttar Pradesh.
Chaurasia clearly stated that incidents like murder, robbery, and rape are becoming commonplace in Bihar, and criminals have lost their fear of the law. He emphasized that strict measures are necessary to control crime. The kind of action taken against criminals in UP under Yogi Adityanath's leadership should be replicated in Bihar as well.
The BJP leader also reminded that Bihar's law and order situation was once considered better than UP's, but today the situation is completely reversed. He said that unless the government takes stern action against criminals, the credibility of the police cannot be restored. His statement is not only seen as a direct attack on the Nitish government's working style but also exposes the growing differences within the NDA.
Nitish Model is the Real Good Governance
The JDU has responded sharply to the BJP leader's statement. Party spokesperson Abhishek Jha said that law and order has been established in Bihar since Nitish Kumar took over as Chief Minister. He said that Nitish Kumar's 'no compromise' policy is the identity of Bihar and the government never compromises on crime.
Jha also added that the police take prompt action as soon as they receive information about a crime, and the state's law and order model has been adopted by many states in the country. He called the BJP leader's statement an attempt to gain cheap popularity and said that the state's system is completely under control. The JDU has made it clear that the government's policy regarding law and order in Bihar is b and clear.
Law and Order Becomes a Challenge for NDA in Election Year
This entire controversy has not only exposed the differences within the NDA but has also indicated that the issue of law and order could become a major political weapon in the upcoming assembly elections. The opposition is already constantly cornering the government by accusing it of the return of 'jungle raj' in the state.
The special thing is that the Home Department is with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself, and the increasing crime figures in the state are now raising questions about his leadership capabilities. In such a situation, the sharp stance of the BJP leaders indicates that internal tensions within the coalition may intensify in the coming time.
This debate of 'Yogi Model' versus 'Nitish Model' has now gone beyond mere rhetoric, and it has made it clear that not everything is normal within the NDA. Instead of a joint strategy against crime in Bihar, questions are now being raised about policy and leadership, which could create more difficulties for the ruling coalition in the future.
