BJP Files Cyber Police Complaint in Ranchi Over Alleged Objectionable Instagram Post on PM Modi

The BJPnstagram post concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi. State spokesperson Ajay Sah has sought an FIR, impartial investigation and preservation of digital evidence, including IP logs, login history, device details and metadata.

The BJP has lodged a complaint with the Cyber Police Station in Ranchi over an alleged objectionable Instagram post concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP state spokesperson Ajay Sah has sought registration of an FIR, an impartial investigation and preservation of digital evidence.

According to the complaint, an Instagram account named Rishikesh Chauhan posted an image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which a garland appeared to have been placed over his picture. The post allegedly also contained wording related to a funeral.

The BJP has sought legal action against the account concerned. The party alleged that the content was objectionable and said it had caused displeasure among party workers and members of the public.

BJP state spokesperson Ajay Sah has urged the Cyber Police to register an FIR immediately. He has sought an impartial investigation into the authenticity of the post, the intention behind it and the identification of the person or account responsible for posting or circulating the content.

Sah also requested that all digital evidence related to the case be preserved so that no information is destroyed or altered during the investigation.

The BJP has asked police to preserve digital information associated with the Instagram account, including IP logs, login history, device details, linked mobile number, email, metadata and other electronic evidence.

The party has sought identification of the person concerned on the basis of the available digital evidence and action under the applicable legal provisions.

BJP workers Mudit Chandel, Vishwajit Singh, Rajkishore Sahu, Mahesh Mahto, Aman Kumar and Sumit Sahu were also present at the Cyber Police Station with Ajay Sah when the complaint was submitted.

Ranchi Cyber Police said the complaint has been received and will be verified. Police said a decision on further action would be taken after examining the application.

Police said the investigation process would be initiated while treating the matter as sensitive. The allegations made in the complaint can be confirmed only after the investigation.
