BJP leader Nilesh Rajak was shot dead in broad daylight in Kymore, Katni. Following the incident, tension spread, and the father of one of the accused committed suicide. Police have attached the station in-charge to the line and commenced an investigation.

Katni: The broad daylight murder of BJP leader Nilesh Rajak on Tuesday in Kymore town of Katni district, Madhya Pradesh, has shaken the entire region. Two masked assailants on a motorcycle shot him at close range, leading to his instant death. Following this incident, tension escalated in the area, and his family members blocked roads for six hours. Furthermore, just hours after the murder, the father of one of the accused committed suicide by hanging himself, which has made the case even more serious.

Youth Murdered in Broad Daylight Near Bank

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning around 11 AM near the Bank of Baroda in Kymore. Nilesh Rajak, who was the BJP Backward Class Mandal President and a former office-bearer of Bajrang Dal, was going to the market on his motorcycle. It was then that two masked assailants on a motorcycle stopped him and shot him in the chest.

Upon being shot, Rajak fell on the road. Local residents immediately rushed him to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead. The entire incident has been captured by a nearby CCTV camera, based on which the police have intensified their investigation.

Accused's Father Commits Suicide 

In the initial investigation, police identified two accused as Prince Joseph (30) and Akram Khan (33). Both are absconding. Meanwhile, just a few hours after the incident, Nelson Joseph, father of accused Prince Joseph, committed suicide by hanging himself at his home.

According to family members, Nelson returned home normally in the morning and shortly after, went to his room and locked the door. When he did not come out for a long time, the family peeped in and found him hanging. Police have taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.

Action Against Station In-charge in Kymore

Considering the seriousness of the matter, Katni SP Abhinay Vishwakarma has attached Kymore Police Station In-charge Arvind Chaube and Head Constable Premshankar Patel to the line. Additionally, Jabalpur DIG Atul Singh conducted a flag march in Kymore, appealing to people to maintain peace.

As a precautionary measure, heavy police force has been deployed in the area. The administration has put the city under a security cordon to deal with any untoward situation.

Demand for Arrest of Accused 

Following the murder, family members and supporters refused to allow the post-mortem of the body and blocked roads outside Vijayraghavgarh Hospital for six hours. Their demand was for the police to immediately arrest the accused.

MLA Sanjay Pathak arrived at the scene and tried to persuade the family members. Meanwhile, BJP State President Hemant Khandelwal spoke with Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and instructed for the swift arrest of the culprits. Police state that both accused will be arrested soon.
