Parliament Dog Controversy: BJP MLA Pramod Kumar's statement regarding women, delivered from Motihari, Bihar, has ignited a political storm. The issue came to light when media personnel questioned him about why Congress MP Renuka Chaudhary brought a dog to Parliament. In response, the MLA stated, “Many ladies sleep with dogs for satisfaction; check your mobile, you'll find everything.” Following this remark, widespread protests have erupted.
The Genesis of the Controversy: Renuka Chaudhary's Puppy in Parliament
On December 1st, the first day of the Parliament's winter session, Congress MP Renuka Chaudhary arrived at the Parliament premises with a small puppy. She explained that she had brought it with her to rescue a puppy that was injured on the way. She stated, "We only kept the puppy in the car to keep it safe and later sent it back. There are people who bite and sting in Parliament, not dogs."
However, some BJP MPs deemed this a violation of parliamentary rules and demanded action. Bringing pets into the Parliament House premises is strictly prohibited. The Lok Sabha handbook also explicitly states that any living creature or object that could compromise security or decorum is forbidden within the premises.

BJP MLA's Controversial Statement
Seeking a reaction to the incident, the media asked BJP MLA Pramod Kumar why Renuka Chaudhary brought a puppy to Parliament. In response, he said, "Many ladies sleep with dogs for satisfaction. Check your mobile, you'll find everything." This statement ignited fury across political circles and social media. The MLA's comment was branded as an insult to women and an uncivil remark.
Both Congress and RJD bly condemned this statement. Congress spokesperson Snehashish Vardhan stated that this remark reflects the mindset of the BJP and RSS, demanding an immediate apology from the MLA. RJD spokesperson Priyanka Bharti commented,
'Does the Prime Minister find satisfaction when his leaders make such indecent remarks against women? Why are BJP's women leaders silent on this issue?'
On social media, people also condemned the statement and demanded strict action. Many labeled it as an affront to women's dignity and parliamentary decorum. The controversy has further intensified because Renuka Chaudhary has been re-elected as a Rajya Sabha MP from Telangana and has long been a vocal advocate for women's rights. This issue is no longer confined to merely bringing a pet dog into Parliament; it has transformed into a question of women's honor, ethics, and the sanctity of Parliament.
