BSP Faces Organizational Crisis in Bihar as Leaders Resign

In Bihar politics, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has suffered another significant organizational setback. In the Buxar district, the party’s district president along with approximately two dozen leaders and workers have collectively resigned from the BSP. This development comes at a time when the party is already struggling with limited influence and a weak organizational structure in the state.

This mass resignation has raised questions about the strategy and organizational status of the BSP, led by Mayawati, in Bihar. The party’s electoral performance has consistently weakened in recent years, while reports of leadership changes at the state level and internal discontent have also surfaced. The incident in Buxar is being seen as a continuation of this trend.

The resigning leaders state that grassroots workers have been consistently overlooked within the party for a long time. The organization at the district and block levels had become almost inactive, resulting in an inability to effectively intervene on social issues or demonstrate the expected level of activity in political affairs. According to the leaders, suggestions were made on several occasions to strengthen the organization and raise local issues, but they were not taken seriously.

According to political analysts, the BSP’s role in Dalit and backward class politics was once considered influential, but over time the party’s ground-level connection has weakened. The large-scale resignations at the local level indicate that the party needs to work afresh not only on electoral politics but also on organization building.

Currently, this incident in Buxar is being seen as a serious warning for the BSP. If the organization is not reorganized in time and the trust of the workers is not regained, the BSP’s presence in Bihar politics may become even more limited.
