Central Government Dispatches Inter-Ministerial Team to Uttarkashi Disaster Zone

Following the recent disaster in Dharali, Uttarkashi, an inter-ministerial team from the central government will visit the affected areas next week. This team will assess the damage and formulate a strategy for relief, rescue, and reconstruction.

Uttarakhand Cloudburst: The recent catastrophic floods in the Dharali region caused significant loss of life and property. Now, the central government is gearing up to accelerate relief and rehabilitation efforts. A high-level, inter-ministerial team from the Center will visit the disaster-affected areas of Uttarkashi next week. This team will not only conduct a comprehensive assessment of the damage but also consider long-term solutions and disaster management strategies.

Central Government's Prompt Response After the Disaster

The natural disaster in Dharali village razed many houses to the ground, destroyed roads, and left people homeless. Following this devastating event, the central government assured the state government of all possible assistance, maintaining constant contact. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) convened a meeting immediately after the disaster to review relief operations with the Uttarakhand administration.

Rajendra Singh, Head of NDMA, stated that the ongoing relief efforts from the Center are being monitored, and the immediate availability of resources will be ensured as needed. He also said that the central government is ready to provide full financial assistance for the reconstruction of Dharali.

Who Will Be Included in the Central Team?

The central team, scheduled to reach Uttarkashi next week, will include senior officials and experts from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and Ministry of Water Resources. This team will visit Dharali, Harsil, and other surrounding affected areas to deeply analyze the situation and submit a detailed report to the central government.

Lake Becomes a New Challenge

The sudden formation of a lake in the Bhagirathi River after the Dharali accident has become a new cause for concern. This lake, formed by the accumulation of debris, could pose a significant threat to villages downstream if it were to breach. Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman stated that the condition of this lake is being continuously monitored. The process of draining the water has also been initiated to prevent any unforeseen accidents.

He said, "A joint team of the army and state agencies is monitoring the flow and water level of the lake. Inspections by experts have revealed that water is draining slowly from the lake, which keeps the situation under control, but the danger is not completely averted."

Special Emphasis on Reconstruction Works

A special plan is being prepared for the repair and reconstruction of infrastructure in Dharali and its surrounding villages. The central government is focusing on the provision of roads, electricity, drinking water, and housing on a priority basis. A special fund may also be released on the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs to accelerate rehabilitation works.

Importance Will Be Given to Community Participation

The participation of the local community is also being encouraged to restore normalcy to the lives of people affected by the natural disaster. Voluntary organizations, village councils, and youth will be involved in the reconstruction works, which will not only speed up the process but also provide employment to the people.
